Swelling in the neck & face is a sign of serious infection and is
certainly an emergency. My husband is a dentist, and any patients
exhibiting these symptoms would be advised to bypass us completely and
head straight for the E.R. Watch her very closely - this is really
very serious. If her throat is closing off, take her to the E.R.
immediately. Have you called her dentist's office? Almost all
offices have an in-case-of-emergency number to call on the voicemail
message. If all else fails, please call me directly (I'm our in-case-
of-emergency person for the weekend) at 801-796-6882. I'll be up for
another hour or so.
