Cats lack an enzyme in the liver that causes some oils to be toxic...
particularly Melaleuca. Check for phenols in the essential oil
composition. Oils with a high level of phenols should never be used
for cats and ferrets. I learned this in my training as an animal
aromatherapist. Just like dogs can be poisoned by theobromine in
chocolate, cats can be poisoned by the phenols in essential oils.
Better safe than sorry! Use hydrasols rather than essential oils for
cats.
