Peppermint will also repel the fleas and may kill them as well. I did this to get rid of my infestation. I bought a box of baking soda, put in about 15 drops of melaleuca and about 10 peppermint, then shook the box up to disperse the oils, and shook it all over my carpet and furniture. Then vacuumed it up after about 4 hours. It worked, I repeated the process again the following week, about 8 days, and I never had another flea show it's ugly head again. I also put plain baking soda on my cat. It seemed to help. You might have to repeat it once a month for a month or two, but it sure beats using chemicals. Hope you get some other responses and more ideas.

Hi Alice,
Most of us just place a drop of Peppermint or OnGuard directly in
our mouth for a wonderful clean feel. I use the OnGuard drops and they
make my breath smell wonderful. They can be ordered on line for 14.50,
with 30 drops. They also clear up sore throats, dry throats, cough and
minor congestion.
I know also that the oils are wonderful for animals. You just need to use
a lot less than you would on a human. I have seen comments on fleas and
hope that someone will tell us what they used. I will look back over previous
posts and see what I can find.
The way you can test your cat to see if an oil is right for her is to open the
bottle and call her. If she comes to you the oil is okay for her if she will not
come near you the oil is not right for her. If you are lucky enough to have
a cat that will come when called, then this will work.

Has anyone ever made a spray bottle with EO to use as a breath
freshener (instead of breath mint)? I was thinking that a couple of
drops of OnGuard and Peppermint would work. Any ideas?
My cat has fleas although she's never been outside. The vet gave me a
treatment for her a few months ago that drives the fleas away. The
fleas are supposed to die since they only live on the animal in the
house. The treatment took care of the fleas for a few months but now
they are back. Has anyone had success with getting rid of fleas with
EO?
Thanks.
Alice
