Re: [Everything doTERRA] ingrown toenail

I don't get them (used to from time to time), but for clients over the years, we have used Oregano or Thyme topically because that worked for me. Initially, the intention was to eliminate the infection, but across the board, the result has been total elimination of the problem. No cutting out, and no repeat ingrown toenails. Most (not all) of these clients have admitted to becoming more conscientious about keeping their nails cut to accommodate their shoes in a prevention effort. Again, that's what works for us; we're all different, but it is easy and low-maintenance.

Lots of ideas out there for you to try!

Love, Tamalu

My cousin is a Marine and he learned during his service to cut a small v in the center of your toenail. My sister tried it and it worked. It looks funny but apparently it does the trick.

My husband gets ingrown toenails every year or so. We have found that if you pack cotton around the edges at night, the nail can't grow in to the skin. I read somewhere that the cause  may be the lack of an enzyme in the body. Then be sure to keep the nail bed soft...FCO morning and night. This also helps to straighten the nail out, but yes keep it clipped and use the melaleuca. Let us know.

No matter what oil you use you will still need to remove the nail. You can do it
yourself or go to a podiatrist and have it done. Use Melaleuca or OnGuard to keep
any infection away. Then try keeping the nails clipped straight across so they won't
go into the sides.

It will be fun to see if anyone else has a good idea for this.
