[Everything doTERRA] Re: Right abdomen pain

I'm sorry you're having so much pain. It sounds very frustrating to try all these things and still not have an explanation.

Ellen's suggestion of trying chiropractic also sounds like a good idea to me.

Is the pain near your ileocecal valve? The ileocecal valve controls the movement of waste from the small intestine to the large intestine and prevents backflow. In some people it doesn't open properly and in others it stays open and doesn't close like it's supposed to. It may not be consistently one way or another. This can cause pain and a variety of related and seemingly unrelated symptoms.

Here's something you can easily try. The valve is located about midway on the line between the point of the right hip bone and the navel. If you press that area with your fingers the valve area may be tender, especially if you're having problems with its functioning. You can easily check to see if it's particularly sore.

There's a way of massaging it to help encourage it to function better. If you do an online search you'll find a number of pages and videos that describe how to locate and massage the valve. It won't hurt to give it a try. Infrequently, mine misbehaves and massaging it helps, especially if I'm constipated.

If anyone else on the board is familiar with this, have you used oils along with the massage? I'm thinking DigestZen would be a good one.
