The first thing I want to "throw out" to you, is about the Epson Salt Bath. Epson salt has lots of Magnesium in it. Epson salt baths are used to treat CONSTIPATION. So-knowing that.. you can be assured that additional magnesium in ones body (either through food, supplements, or epson salts) will lead to loose stools. However, relaxing they might be-phew!
My second thought- is to try Vetiver. My gut says to do Vetiver and Frank..OR one mix I use with my children is Vetiver, DDR (liquid) and Wild Orange with some FCO in a roller bottle along their spine. The orange may or may not work for your situation-but I appreciate the smell along with it's benefits. DDR has Frank in it as well. The thing about Vetiver..interesting..I used it with one of my kids with ADD when the In Tune was not doing enough. He was actually a little too sluggish with the Vetiver by itself! So-we had to try a couple of combinations-never thought we'd have THAT problem.
A third thought: (and please do not construe any of this as parenting advice..I'm not suggesting you need it..heck, I need advice myself!)
In my former career, I worked as a teacher in Special Education, and later as a Speech and Language Pathologist. So my thoughts come from that experience. One is I know that he could benefit from speech and language therapy-but is he...if he is having some difficulty settling down. I say this only as I know how overwhelming it is to have to go to 2-10 appointments a week for a child. Without knowing anything else about your sweet boy, it sounds like the OT is really a great place to be. If you have an amazing SLP then it is probably worth it...but sometimes you have to get the "pre" skills down first. That is, if you need to prioritize. If you can handle it all-awesome!
All of Charly's suggestions sound wonderful-especially the weighted vest-and getting support for YOURSELF. I hope you can get in touch with her for some additional suggestions.
A final quick thought: I am amazed at what a powerhouse woman and mom you are doing home schooling. Wonderful! One thought to add to it, is for him to spend some time with children that would be considered "typically developing". I.E. not in OT/SPEECH/PT, etc. (you may already be doing this) The kind of kids he would be with if he were going to the traditional pre-school. The reason I suggest that is so that he can see "typical" models of play behaviors, manners, social skills, speech and language. I.E. We smile when we are given snack and say "thank you". We use our words or gestures to get what we want, etc. Peer pressure can be a beautiful thing!
God Bless you for being such a dedicated momma-He is a lucky boy!
Best, Beth

This is my second child diagnosed on the autism spectrum.I have tried a lot of things over the years. My oldest one (who is now 19yrs old) was a little more reasonable and compliant about things in general. He wanted to please. The second one is harder. This particular child will not take supplements of any kind. He barely even wants to eat sometimes. I am trying to modify his diet but it is really hard with him.So here is what we have to deal with and I need help NOW:He bounces off the walls--can't stop moving. Jumps off furnitureWalks across the room and does somersaultsHurts himself and others- have fallen down a huge flight of stairs, jumped out of a truck, hits and kicks peopleBreaks things all the time-broke the mirrors in my truck, ripped out handles to cabinets/doorsGets frequent bloody nosesHas loose stools frequentlyHits himself when frustratedLines objects upHas had 20 hours of ABA therapy a weekIs in speech therapy 2.5 hours a weekdelayed fine motor and with pretend playHas major temper tantrums/ragesGets overwhelmed with people and noises but can't play alone eitherHe yells/screams/whines no matter how much I put my foot down and not bend the rules. Can't stop touching things/other peopleHoardsJust bought him a terra cotta pendant today to wear around neck with EO ----just lost it at the park, can't tell me how, when or where about it.Is homeschooled (so I can have more flexibility in using EO throughout the day)Walks in circles/pacesThink dairy and soy might make things worse-trial and errorCould care less about anyone;s feelings or pleasing anyone.Could care less if he hurt someoneHere is what we have used:BALANCE --seems to help at firstSerenity-didn;t respond to this muchElevation-this made him even crazier, but I do give him it when he is in a mental crying fit and sadRosemary-really don;t see much with thisOnguard-has kept him getting sick when others have been sick, he doesnt get sick too often though anywaysPeppermint-to help with his tummy issues, seems to be help firm up his BMsEpson SALT Baths-these seem to mellow him out for about 5-15minutes but it makes his stools loose againMassages-these also give him a relax mode as well of about 10 -20 minutes. What does other suggest? At wits end!
