[Everything doTERRA] Re: Juvenile Systemic Arthritis

Hi Ashley - I just wanted to expand upon what "naturalchoices4u" posted about diet. I'm a Registered Dietitian/Functional Nutrition Specialist and I work quite often with folks that suffer from auto immune conditions which most of juvenile arthritis is. Auto immune conditions happen when there is a "leaky gut" and therefore the gut is permeable and food particles "leak" into the bloodstream, the bodies immune system recognizes that they are "foreign" and shouldn't be there and so starts an attack. The problem is that these particles often settle in the joints and so there is constant attack on them which leads to damage.  I would suggest that your client seek out a functional physician and/or nutritionist to start the children on an elimination diet to begin to heal the leaky gut, reduce the inflammation and reduce the body's attack on itself and the joints. Typical protocol for elimination diets remove gluten (huge factor!), dairy, eggs, grains, sugar and some will also add in soy, nightshades (tomato, eggplant), and corn (in any form -grain/veggie) depending upon the person's history. The LLV is a good idea especially the xEO MEGA for the healthy fats and the physician or nutritionist that they work with may suggest other supplements like certain amino acids that can help heal the gut too.

As far as oils go I would also consider cypress and frankincense. I make up a "painful joint" rub for some of my clients that has wintergreen, lemongrass, cypress, frankincense and eucalyptus diluted in FCO. This seems to help with the pain while we work on diet together but doesn't smell as strong as the Deep Blue (which some are concerned about at work).

I hope this helps!

I have a perspective client that has two children with juvenile systemic arthritis. The chances of these are so rare it is almost impossible to have two children with this disease. She takes her children every two weeks for specialized medical care in a neighboring large city. I spoke with her about oils to add some possibilities for support. I and she both understand that we would not be taking any of the medical stuff away. But I was trying to help her children feel better. One of the issues she mentioned is that her children's joints are already starting to fuse together. I was wondering about using Deep Blue- but scared that the helichrysm in it would actually help the joints fuse together. Any suggestions?
