With eyes shut [peppermint fumes can cause the eyes to water] take 3-5 slow, deep inhales straight from the peppermint bottle. This always brings me quick relief. Also, massage a drop of [diluted] peppermint onto the places that hurt - forehead, temples, back of the neck. Because there are no side-effects this can be done as often as needed.
Of course, you need to determine the cause of the headache.
- Lack of sleep or [emotionally or physically] stress-induced PastTense Blend is helpful but the Peppermint protocol I use works well for this type of headache too
- Allergy-induced - the lemon, lavender, peppermint combo- but I don't know about a 10-year-old swishing and swallowing this mixture - I'd ask Pat about that
- Sinus [infection, sinusitis, etc] - I only know what should be used for an adult, perhaps Heather AK could tell you what is effective for a child
[ My Soapbox Statement LOL] Don't get caught in the erroneous thinking so many people fall into - frustration because the oil isn't a magic bullet bringing instantaneous relief. Remember that OTC and prescribed meds seldom work instantaneously and can only be taken every 4-6 hours plus almost always have side-effects, especially with prolonged use.

My son is 10 years old, and has had a headache on and off this week. Can get pretty bad if he doesn't take Motrin. Any suggestions on what to try? I'm cautious, because he has never used oils other than peppermint and lavender. We just got our oils yesterday! I have the phys kit, rosemary, serenity, balance, cypress, and intune (wouldn't think that would work for this though?) I'm sorry if this is posted somewhere, I can't read up right now. Please help! Thank you.
