Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Help! Can oils dissolve dissolvable stitches?

I have never experienced it personally, but I have heard someone who claimed the oils began to eat away at plastic sutures. By the time it happened, they were ready to come out, anyway, so it did not create a problem for that person. But since then, I have advised people to apply around the incision, and not on the sutures themselves. Not sure about dermabond...

Does this also apply to incisions that have been closed with Dermabond? (super glue for skin).  It is uncanny that this was the first post for the day because I was going to ask this morning if it is ok to put Lavender on my Dad's incision on his back from herniated disk surgery. If EO can melt styrofoam, could it eat away at the glue keeping the incision together?

Hubby has a nasty gash on his neck about 3 inches long from yesterday. The inside and outside stitches are the dissolvable kind. Today I have been applying White Fir and Eucalyptus for the pain (with great success) and I also have mixed up one of Dr. Sue Lawton's wound healing blends. However, all of a sudden I became very worried that it can dissolve the stitches too early! I am in a panic, that would NOT be good at all.
