Re: [Everything doTERRA] Terrible allergies for a young boy

I would recommend getting a zytoscan done to see what oils are recommended for him. Also, this could be the result of candida albican overgrowth he could have received from his parents. Google this forum there is some more information available.

Tough start to life for this little one.

This note is from a young mother in need of help.
I have many thoughts but would like your input. I thinking Gluten for sure needs to go and Milk for a while ..... Coconut oil with Lavender an allergy protocol with the A2Z for sure.

ok, so Garrett has always had a few small patches of eczema and some head congestion... it started getting bad when he was about 15 mos, and then really bad with several breathing episodes when he was 18 mos... which led us to do the allergy testing. the allergist explained that eczema is a reaction to an allergy, 90% of the time it is a food allergy but more rarely, 10% of the time, it is caused by an environmental allergen. after testing he believed that grass is Garrett's main culpret. however, he also tested allergic to oranges, canteloupes, white potatoes, and peas. so we pulled him off of those foods and started him on a daily dose of zyrtec which he takes every day all year. if we miss a singel dose, we start to see symptoms pretty quickly: head congestion, puffiness in his face, and itching. this spring and last spring have proven to be very difficult for him. last spring we spent a LOT of time at the dermatologist b/c Garrett scratches so much that he is then susceptible to viral and bacterial skin infections, of which he picked up a couple. the issue right now is that they are obviously seeing a pattern, this happens evey year at this time, however the grass pollens do not start until later spring...so whatever it is that he is reacting to right now, he is clearly highly allergic to, yet we don't know what it is. when they tested him at 18 mos it was mostly a foods test. so they want to do a more environmentally focused test. right now that can't happen b/c Garrett would have to be off his meds for 7 days prior to the test and his body could not handle that. he'd have no skin left to test! so the plan is to retest in Aug, bc usually things settle for G mid summer when the grass pollens finally settle.

right now, in addition to his normal nightly dose of zyrtec, Garrett is taking a morning dose of claritin, nasonex at night, an antihistamine eyedrop as needed, and a steroid skin cream for his body, and hydrocortisone for his face. and they are really making him a bit crazy. he is all "highs" and "lows". and still very itchy for good portions of the day, which is absurd considering all the medications.

  • i feel so bad for him, and am just thankful that his allergies seem to manifest in skin issues rather than breathing issues. We have been told to expect asthma with him b/c of the severity of the skin reactions

and a few things we have done to help with his skin: using mild dove bar soap for him, coating him with eucerin lotion, and i make a homemade laundry detergent.
