We've been using the toothpaste for several months now. We both love the taste and the fact that the protective blend is at work in our oral health. I have sensitive teeth and have experienced no problems in that regard.
-- As to the whitening and tartar buildup I don't know how effective the OnGuard toothpaste is. We both pull [unrefined virgin] coconut oil each morning before we brush our teeth. This practice has greatly reduced plaque and stains and has whitened our teeth. (My husband has long been a coffee and tea drinker and when he drinks wine it's always red so you can imagine the staining on his teeth.) When I consider that we're 63 and 64 that's quite a feat. I don't use any of the chemical whitening products for several reasons:
- I have sensitive teeth and that just exacerbates that issue
- Cost
- Ineffective [for me]
- Prefer not to put that "stuff" in my mouth
Pulling the [unrefined virgin] coconut oil helps to kill bacteria in the mouth, loosens plaque and helps eliminate stains. My husband often comments on how clean his teeth feel after pulling the oil. We used to use the pre-brush rinses for loosening plaque and pulling [unrefined virgin] coconut oil has been as effective in that regard plus we're getting the other benefits of [unrefined virgin] coconut oil - anti-bacterial, soothing...
A toothache often indicates another problem, usually decay. Some claim that you can reverse tooth decay but I've never tried that. Clove oil is often used in "other products" that combat oral pain so you may want to consider that for your tooth pain. But make sure you're dealing with the problem and not just the symptom and if the pain persists go to your dentist, he/she is there to help you. Oral health has a direct effect on your overall health.

Can anyone tell me what they like and don't like about the on guard toothpaste by doterra? Would you use it on sensitive teeth that tend to get tarter build up? Will it help with whiteness? Also will it help with a toothache maybe?Thank you in advance.
