Re: [Everything doTERRA] OILS TO AVOID

I am sure it helped her Heather, and as usual I have learned again from you and appreciate your input on this forum.

Anna - highly recommend Stephanie Fritz's Pregnacy book.  As a pregnate university trained Aromatherpist, DoTERRA does not carry oils that I am afraid to touch.

I don't have a great love for Arborvitae, just now which I believe is pregnacy related.  But I will put it on my family members.  But then again I seem to distain DeepBlue just now and chemically i think it's fine and know of many pregnate woman who think its the end all be all. I'd say listen to your body.  I wash my hands after applying oils to family members with oils I don't want to breathe or absorb much more of.  Dillutions a worthy idea too.

- note blends completly alter the chemical structure of an oil so someone who has say an issue with Rosemary by itself may likly not in a blend.

Also please note that pregnacy warning with essential oils are supper subjective.  Test are not run on pregnate woman or children under 8.  So technically per the data nothing is safe, because nothing is tested. Which of course is silly, so people recommend the ones most written about in pregnacy and add warning to ones where a single chemical constituent that occurs in it was tested in a pregnate lab rat and had negative effects. It also means we have little real negative research of the actual oil much less in humans is out there.  Much less the genius species you have, from the country yours is from, and not on your batch. Yet publications particular by those who can't perscribe really tend to cover their buts so take thier warnings for what they are worth. This in my opnion includes a favorite we doTERRA'ist use most.

So saying I have non-doterra oil and I try not to even touch their bottles currently while pregnate.  I do own ones with some more dangerous Keytons etc. (note Keytons are not a dangerous chemical family- best know for regen properties) Ones Aromatherpist play with more carefully. -doTERRA does not carry those.

If it helps Dr Hill has said doTERRA does not carry any oils unsafe on children or in pregnacy per Stephanie Fritz who consulted with him when she wrote her book.  I honestly feel comfortable trusting them both on their word.  I can't say that with many "experts" in our industry.

That was pre Arbirvitae and Ive not seen a true sampling of its chemical constitents and its one I'd ordinary avoid in pregnacy.  But doTERRA told us there are no thujone's in it and that changes its safty and it's the basis of the safty warning on it in the ME book.  So I avoid it but still will apply it to a daughters back, I avoid breathing it in (because I currently have a distaste for the smell- and I think that's telling as I generally love cedar), and I don't want it doing it's thing aromaticly, chemically, for me.  Then I wash my hands. Note it is a hard one wash off.  But I don't want residual in me (yes water drives in essential oils but soap also removed residual oil on my hands- maybe dilute then wash off) and I do somtimes ask another family member to apply it to her back.  Again dilution before application may be the way to go.

I don't know if you were at convention, but I've honestly never seen so many happy, content babies in one location. There were a lot this year.

Hope my thoughts help as you go forward.
Note if you do have a tendency for preterm labor then avoiding Clarry Sage might be in order but that does not always rule out Clary Calm per Stephanie Fritz.  It's her one warning in her book.

Common Sence is a great rule to follow.  Fear tends to be a lousy friend.

Have a great pregnancy,
Heather
