Re: [Everything doTERRA] fairly new to oils and sort of frustrated....please help me

I have learned over the course of a few years tha for a baby 1 drop of oil is stazndard application. For example, when my graddaughter was an infant, she had colic. We rubbed a drop of digestzen 2 to 3 x a day around her tummy
2 drops for toddlers and children, and 2 to 4 drops for teens and adultas is the general protocol

how often?  Less, more often
In otherwords, when one of my kids show the first sign of a runny nose or cough, and I know there is a nasty virus going around, I will immediately apply 2 drops of onguard on their feet, 2 drops of melaleuka and 2 drops of breathe on their chest. I will do this 3  to 4 x the first day and by morning of the next day, the virus or cold is GONE!  The sooner you attack it, the more success you will have.
In a diffuser, usually 4 drops is good, except for the melissa oil. 2 drops is plenty. That oil is potent.

Feel free to email me any questions you have. I would be happy to share what I have learned. Asking questions and reading and learning will help you. It takes time, but you will catch on.  :)
You tube has some great tutorials as well

I'm sorry you didn't get the results you were expecting. Sometimes chronic conditions take more time to resolve. Oils give the body what it needs to heal itself, and sometimes that healing takes time.

Drugs are often promised as a quick fix. But, drugs also may not work for some people. Sometimes it takes finding different drugs before one works right. Or, sometimes the side effects cause more problems. Or sometimes a doctor prescribes one dosage, only to change it later. Or sometimes a drug needs to be taken for several weeks before a person will see results. That is because everyone is different. And, what works for one person may not necessarily work for another.

I don't want to draw too close of a parallel between drugs and oils. I just want to illustrate that the differences in people are not unique to using essential oils.

Remember with the oils small amounts more frequently is better than "once a day" kind of recommendations. Sometimes your intuition will guide you where and how often to put the oils. When your attention is drawn to your issue, perhaps it's time for another drop of oil. Some of the recommendations in the ME book do say "every 3 hours", but many are "as needed". And, only you can decide how often that is. Listen to your body.

As an IPC is not your responsibility to prescribe an oil for a person's health condition. That is more in line with how doctors treat patients with drugs. dōTERRA promotes informed self care. Your responsibility can be, when you share the oils, to share what works for you and what has worked for others. Then give the person information and resources from EverythingEssential.me and Modern Essentials so they can, with guidance, figure out for themselves what things to try. Even on this website/group, people will chime in with different recommendations. I like to say " *some people* have found that lemon, lavender, and peppermint help support the body when dealing with seasonal issues.", for example. Essential oils are not magic drops, and what works for one person might not work for the next. That is why the ME book and this group is so wonderful. You are given several options. So, you can see what you have on hand and try that first, then move to other options if you need to.

I guess I would turn that question back to you. What do you hope the oils will help with? What results do you want to see? Are you addressing a chronic or acute issue? Acute issues generally resolve quicker than chronic.

Others have shared some of the wonderful websites that they go to for more information. I second those recommendations.
