Re: [Everything doTERRA] Cat with large stones in bladder

I was a vet tech for a few years and worked in surgery for a lot of that time. My doc wasn't very naturally minded, but after seeing a couple of those surgeries and what came out, I have to agree with the vet. Dissolving even tiny stones can take many months on a strict diet. Large stones are a whole nother story. Idk a lot about oils in animals yet, but I do know many don't get along with cats also, and I believe citrus oils fall in that category. If you want to try to dissolve them, there is a food called C/D that the vet can prescribe for you. It is quite spendy, but most likely what kitty would need. (Typically cats form calcium oxylate crystals/stones and this food changes the body's ph to the opposite spectrum.) you would need to pay extremely close attention to kitty's litter box usage, amounts, frequency etc and be sure that they don't have any signs of a blockage during this time as sometimes they can get "sand" built up also and a blockage is just a terribly painful thing for them, which sadly can also be fatal. I'm sorry I don't have a more natural answer for you. Someone with more experience might, but I hate to see kitty in a bad way if avoidable. I've been in a similar situation myself before and I know this is a hard choice to make. I wish you peace in whatever decision you come to, and comfort for your kitty!

Hello friends.

Our cat was just diagnosed with at least 3 very large "stones" and the vet has put her on some medicine, pain med, and wants to do surgery to remove them. Says they are too large to dissolve. Does anyone have experience with this, suggestions, ideas? I'm thinking about lemon oil to dissolve them... ? Not only do I hate to see her go through surgery, but we just can't financially handle another pet surgery with the horrific costs involved. Any thoughts appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
