I use melaleuca straight on the poison ivy (don't know if that's much different from poison oak) but some people are sensitive to melaleuca. I just got back from taking my dog for a walk and we got lost in the woods behind my house - I was wearing flip-flops! So I showered and washed my feet and ankles several times. I'm trying an experiment: I put melaleuca on my left foot and ankle to see if it will work prophylactically. And I just drank a glass of water with lemon/lavender/peppermint (gross) also.
Now to give the dog a bath!
