I would suggest that your friend get a test done at her PCM or specialty doc. for deficiencies, it sounds to me like her body has deficiency in trace minerals.  Is she using true salt, like unrefined sea salt at home or is she using table salt.  Table salts and salts found on most snack foods will leave you craving salt even after you eat a bag of chips because table salt doesn't contain the trace minerals found in natural salts.  I am a salt lover, but I found my cravings for salt greatly diminished when I turned to using natural sea salt instead of the common table salt.  I will find if I eat out or when I eat prepackaged food I will use more salt because I crave the real stuff, but if I cook from scratch at home I don't crave it and use much less salt.

But there could be more serious medical reasons for craving salt, especially if it is accompanied with other symptoms, like adrenal disorders.  I would suggest she talk to her PCM/Doc. about it to be sure.

Sorry I don't have an oil suggestion for you.
