[Everything doTERRA] Neurological therapist requesting help for patient

A dear friend of mine is a neurodevelopmental specialist.  She spends her time helping people with their neurologically affected children by evaluating and developing programs to help them fill the holes in their development. She recently sent me this case below asking whether essential oils might help at all in this situation.  She does NOT want to recommend the parents use any oils or supplements internally at this time based on his severe reactions.  Is there anything that any of you would recommend trying externally with the oils?  I honestly don't know where to start with this one...

"6-year old boy, SO allergic that he MUST be on a very strict rotation diet or he will have a negative response.  Also really suffers with seasonal allergies.  Appears to be in the Asperger's type----very smart, but has many repetitive behaviors, cannot relate socially at all, will repeat things but not retain them, cannot generalize (a picture of a black kitten is a kitten, but if then shown a picture of a white kitten he will not know it is a kitten since it differs from what you previously labeled a kitten.  I am wondering about smelling/topical oils to perhaps help his allergies.  His mom has done NAET with no success.  They are East Indian--in case there are questions about heredity.  Once there is a freeze, he improves (although I haven't talked to his mom since last week's freeze).  I don't think I can recommend internal use for him at this point because of his reaction to those things.   There just has to be SOMETHING to help this guy."
