Re: [Everything doTERRA] Musty basement smell

Are you able to pack your clothing into airtight containers like plastic boxes?  The use of airtight containers with oxygen absorbers commonly used to preserve buckets of food may help.  As an alternative, you could put your clothing into a plastic dress bag, the kinds that has a zippered closure, with a Cedarwood plank, or use the bags that you can vacuum the excess air out of to seal out musty, stale air.

I will be storing things like books and clothes in a friends basement that has a musty smell.
2 things.  How to get rid of the smell in the basement and/or keep my things from absorbing the smell?

  1. Great advice Judith! I live in a home that has a basement that, for the most part, stays dry. But during periods of heavy rain, my basement gets a little moist and because of that starts to smell a bit of mildew. I love your ideas for storage solutions. I'm going to try a couple of them.
