Hey Lacy,
Speaking from experience, a meniscus tear can be one of the most difficult to repair.
Is the swelling chronic or is it a new injury ? This is important.
Most doctors will tell you to get the inflammation down with ice & anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) however, others disagree because if it's a new injury, this is the body's natural reaction. This acute inflammation is a good thing as it contains the building material for repairing the white tissue (there is little to no blood flow) called fibroblasts.
Long term or chronic problems are different. Athletes needing to get back into competition soon would take a somewhat different approach as well.
I use ice at the beginning of the injury only if I can't tolerate all of the swelling & also stay away from NSAIDs, COX inhibitors & steroids.
Do a search on this forum & you will find other posts & oils to use. It's been covered several times.
Feel free to ask specific questions after you do your search because again, this can be difficult to repair, but it's better than having surgery. In other words, it's probably not a matter of just simply applying one oil & there can be many variables.
