Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Young Living Lawsuit

Your doTERRA business is your business.  If you are not comfortable with the term "CPTG", then stress what "CPTG" means, The oils are grown in their native place of origin, they are harvested and distilled properly and they are independently tested to assure purity and potency so your 4th bottle of coriander will have the same results as your 1st.  That is the important part, but hard to put all that on a bottle.  Just my 2 cents..

Its a trademark! And it was created to set us apart from any other company. The Trademark has stipulations within doTerra and that is the testing standards. Since there is not an actual testing standard for essential oils doTerra is taking the time, money and knowledge to insist on a world wide standard for testing the purity of oils. Its sets us above others and there are no apologies needed from doTerra for their verbage. They have already set themselves up as a company with a higher standard. You will never hear them down talk another company, they pay attention to their business and run it with honor and integrity. Those who are trying to take them down will fail and it will turn around and bite them in an undesirable place.

So let us all continue to spread the word, teach the oils to others and do not give time and space to companies that are jealous of our success.

I do agree, Daniel, that using the YL phrase "certified therapeutic grade" and just adding the word "pure" leaves some people wondering if both companies are trying to "snow" people with words. Instead of setting doTERRA apart from YL, as I believe was the intention, to many it seems to just prove commonality.  I know it's not up to us to tell doTERRA how to run their business. But I do agree that it would be easier for us, as reps, if the terms they used made it more clear that this is a trademarked term describing internal company standards and not a certification from some federal agency or professional organization. I am deeply disappointed that many in the essential oil community use this term to make negative comments against doTERRA. I also believe that doTERRA's choice of wording left them more open to such attacks. I also believe that it would be very helpful for doTERRA in this lawsuit if they had more support from the EO community in general.

I suspect that what Lynn is eluding to is the fact that CPTG is a trademarked name. Nothing more. As doTERRA own the rights to the name, no-one else is able to use it. YL have their equivalent and I assume other companies will too.

Although doTERRA are trying to emphasise their high quality oils and the fact that they are proud of their achievement/standard, it is indeed misleading to claim that 'our oils are certified pure therapeutic grade'. Especially when some IPCs boast 'our oils are the only oils with CPTG'.

Even Robert Pappas has expressed his disatisfaction with the doTERRA's use of terms such as CPTG:

"I can understand your disdain for that terminology. Personally I would not have went that route if it were my company... I think the proper reply is simply that CPTG is an internal company standard."

"CPTG" is just doterra saying their oils are therapuetic grade and pure to their standards.  Its not like anyone elses oils could be called CPTG. Its a little misleading.
