It looks like they did their own version of the Aroma Touch Technique. You can find information on this technique on your virtual office or in one of the books recommended by doTerra.

went through the treatment, extending the massage to his neck and
shoulders, then covered his back with a feather pillow and blanket.
He was asleep before to long, during which we put serenity on his feet
to help him sleep well. After some time, we woke him enough to get
him to his own bed.
This morning, Brandon awoke very happy. We asked him how his neck was
and he said "LOOK!" and proceeded to show off his flexible and quick
moves from side to side and up and down. "It feels great!" he said.
We asked him how he slept, and he said; "I don't remember anything
since my back rub."
We did another spinal treatment this morning just to make sure we kept
any inflammation at bay. But Brandon went to school happy and feeling
great.
