I often hear people say, "How can 'the government' allow that?" in
response to injuries someone may have experienced when not
investigating a product properly before use, or just plain using it
improperly.
Unfortunately, "the government" (ie whomever may be in a position of
power at the moment) does not allow, it restricts. It's our
Constitution that allows us our freedoms based on respect for our
individual intelligence to choose what is best for us. Our laziness
(and government school brainwashing) expects "government" to judge
what is best for us. Because government is run by people, usually
those motivated by a desire for power over others and access to more
money, our best interest is not always the intent. The FDA and big
pharma are far too cozy.
I'm sure I'm just preaching to the choir here, but I just had to say
this! I hope you are right, Pat. But these things usually start
unsuccessfully, but slowly begin to take on a life of their own, until
they enjoy mass acceptance.
