Re: [Everything doTERRA] Wintergreen oil

Wintergreen and Birch are both very high in Menthyl Salicylate, which is why they, along with Deep Blue - which contains MS, have a saftey lid.  MS can be toxic, has even been attributed to death, but the dangers come with LARGE overdoses.  Using 3-5 drops every so often is not an issue.  I would not use it constantly for days or weeks at a time either.  But normal/occasional use is fine.

I have never heard of it being an issue with blood thinners.  You could inquire further if you like, but I've never heard warnings.

The reason for the saftey lids is to prevent over dose by children.  Some people have allergies to MS or wintergreen/birch, but I also know people that thought they had such allergies, but do not react to ours.  Likely their allergies are to the synthetic version of wintergreen, (of which there is an abundance.)  They know of their reactions, from wintergreen candies or gum which contain synthetic MS.  They should be careful though, even with the pure stuff.

Hi All...I love wintergreen oil but have been reading a lot of adverse
advice on using it because of the high level of Menthyl Salicylate in
it and is highly absorbent...Not recommended for people who use blood
thinners...can damage the liver...allergic reactions...etc. etc. Does
anyone have any advice on this. Much appreciated.
Kind Regards
