I can only say that I had a horrible pain in my tooth a few years ago.  I put clove on the tooth. a few days later, the tooth broke and there was a hole going down into my gum. Food would get stuck there and it hurt very bad.  I put clove in the hole. I could not get to a dentist right away and had to wait a few days. When I got to the dentist, they were shocked that I had had my NERVE exposed for so many days without passing out from the pain. I told them I had put clove oil (it was YL clove oil at the time) in it and they said "Oh...we use clove to numb pain". I still had the root canal, but the dentist was amazed at the pain relief the clove gave me.

regeneration for root canals.  Success with this work is actually
being done by a dentist in Texas I believe.  Several of us in this
area are having our root canals cleaned out and having temporary
crowns put on in hopes to participate in this study.  The alternative
is having the tooth removed or suffer with the consequences of root
canals.  Has anyone heard of this and what oils are being used?  This
could actually turn into a published study.
