I'd make up a 5ml roller bottle to apply the oil to the area surrounding the wound. For a child that young dilute any essential oil to 1% solution which is 1.5 drops of essential oil per 5ml of carrier oil) and apply the oils AROUND the wound - it will get to where it needs to be - not directly on the wound.
Suggested oils would be:
- Frankincense
- Helichrysum
- Melaleuca
- On Guard (to keep the area clean)
Personally I'd make up a 5ml roller bottle of Frankincense or Helichrysum (1.5 drops of essential oil then top off with carrier oil) and another of On Guard (same ratios) because kids are always getting cuts and scratches so you'll have the oils ready for the next time.

Hi, yesterday my 17 month old fell on some glass and got a deep cut on his palm. We took him to urgent care and he received 4 stitches. Can I use oils directly on the stitches? Does the type matter? I thought I heard the dr saying they were different then 'normal' ones. More plasticy not silk? Wish I had paid better attention. If someone knows about this though and needs specifics I imagine I could call and ask. I am supposed to use antibiotic ointment twice a day but would much rather use oils! Thank you in advance
