I love the culture of doTerra and the changes that people have when they realize the efficacy of the business. I understand your comments and agree with some of it. But I still feel that it's not the most important thing and I certainly will never make my income a point of discussion to get someone enrolled.
I would rather my focal point be on the oils!
When I am working with a builder or a classroom of builders I will discuss points of the checks I receive.

--I think the problem with not being willing to share the income amounts is that it leaves people wondering... does it really work? I keep hearing the best way to share the oils is to share your own personal experience. I think that would also be the easiest way to believe that it really can make money is to hear the person you are talking to give real actual numbers.I think there's some bad reputation with multi-level-marketing, people might think pyramid scheme or such. It also doesn't help that other essential oil companies don't support a strong downline, such as Young Living. (this blog post is a fascinating read on YL vs. DT: http://elianasgardens.wordpress.com/2014/06/16/comparing-young-living-doterra-who-to-rep-for/ )So how do you get people to believe that it actually works... until you start throwing out figures? It doesn't even have to be actual numbers, it could be "my doTERRA income pays for all my utilities." Or, "doTERRA pays for our food and house payment." Or even, "I've made enough money this year that I'll be able to pay cash for a brand new Mercedes in April." It doesn't seem that different to me than somebody saying that doTERRA oils cleared up their allergies. Or they helped cure eczema with their diet changes. Or the oils wiped out cancer in their mother.Blessings,Leah

No it is not taboo. But for some touting what an income is could be overwhelming to others. So we stress that its not how much you make its how many people you have shared the oils with.If someone asks me how much I make (rude UH?) I tell them I make sufficient for my needs. I am not protective of my income (even though its no ones business) but I also don't want to be prideful. You will see that most of the leaders (80%) do not talk about their income.Pat
