I have a co-worker who has a relative that was just diagnosed with a Blood
Clot in the brain. She has just starting using a few of the essential oils
for her family. She wants to know what oils can be used for the blood clot
and will they cause other health issues because where the blood clot is
    located.

    Thank you.

Yes, it is true. There are young children who bathed in lavender bath and lavender lotion that developed breasts. There are also people who develop problems using Teatree oil based shampoos and conditioners and there was one guy I knew who developed man breasts that went away when he stopped using it. There are many articles and studies that are well done on this as well as people who can testify that it definitely did affect their hormones.

The properties are in the plant/oil itself and have nothing to do with any possible contaminants. This is not unusual because there are many herbs that have hormonal properties. I prefer not to take the chance of using something regularly I'm myself or others that I know might affect hormone levels.

Of course, as with everything else, some people may be more susceptible than others or have greater or lesser effects hormonally.

It's wise to understand all the possible actions of any substance we used topically or internally so that we can be alert for any changes that are concerning

There are many, many articles to disprove this. There were only THREE cases studied where little boys grew breasts and one was from a lavender "scented" soap.
I have over 24 articles on this and will post them tonight. I hate that people are so misinformed on this!

And there are just as many articles saying this is not true. I don't
believe it for one second. Maybe in select children, my three boys used
nothing but lavender based products and none of them have ever had the
problems mentioned. I have talked to nutritionists and physicians and
dietitians and they have all said the same thing. Using Lavender does not
necessarily mean they will grow breasts, the consensus was if the lavender
was of a inferior species or had a filler in it, then the hormones may be
affected, but also I was reminded that a lot of things can affect hormones.

So I will continue to lavish my sweet grand boys with lavender, and be
    forever grateful for doTerra.

Well said, Pat!! I agree 100%! I have used lavender and tea tree on all 3 of my boys and my two girls for years, even before doterra, and will continue to do so!

I read the FDA reported a growing number of studies suggest that
anti-microbial chemicals like triclosan, used in soaps from Henkel (maker
of dial), Proctor and Gamble, and other companies, may cause harms like
hormone disruption. I will send a photo I took of this article in Time
magazine. (for some reason I can't figure out how to attach to this thread)

If this issue with lavender and large breasts were the slightest bit true
after all the lavender I use (2 bottles a month!) I should look like Pamela
Anderson and Dolly Parton put together! And I do not, sadly.

I do not consider myself "misinformed" on this. I regularly read many many medical studies as well as medical journals and I personally know several people to whom this has happened and it is not from the other ingredients, it is from the lavender and the Teatree oil. I believe I mentioned that everyone may it be affected differently, all I am saying is it is wise to be informed on both sides of the issue, I understand possible side effects, and make your choices from that point

I thought this was a forum where we could share helpful information which would also include possible side effects from essential oils. As much as I love doTerra and use it regularly, I am not going to ignore valid medical studies and personal experiences that show clearly that there are things of which we need to be aware and keep an eye out for them. Because something is "pure" does not mean it cannot have adverse effects.

I personally would never take that chance on a child other than to use those type of oils only on occasion and never regularly. Soy formula used to be considered safe too, and now we discover after babies have been fed soy formula and children have been drinking soymilk that it has measurable affects in altering hormones in their bodies. And sometimes these effects are cumulative and will not be immediately apparent.

But I do understand others believe differently and I respect that.

This is a group where we are free to speak out opinions as well as share things we read or hear. I would be very curious to see these medical journals, can you please post links?
I was not referring to YOU being misinformed, I mean the public in general. People see one article and automatically believe it whether the author has any real credentials of not.

There are other estrogenic actions other than breast growth, and the
effects can be very subtle. I had to stop using Clary Sage as it was
adversely affecting my hormone balance, which is why it is frequently used
    in menopause and PMS formulas

    Hi Cindy,
I am currently using Clary Sage on my ankles. Can you tell me how you knew
Clary Sage was adversely affecting your hormone balance. Was it the way
you felt or did you do a lab test or something? I'm in my mid 50's and
trying to balance my hormones as naturally as possible; any information you
could provide would be very appreciated. Thxs.

So many different oils that could work for this:

    White Fir
    Lemon
    Lavender
    Frankincense

Do the one that feels best!

My 5 year old granddaughter loves it. He may just be very sensitive to oils
and flavors. I've never heard of any other child thinking it's spicy, but
    everyone of course is different.

I've seen that and others as well. Scary stuff! We are a chemical free household and we do not use sanitizer or anything "antibacterial" such as those types of soaps. We make our own with Castile soap and on guard :)
People don't realize antibacterial kills it all, bad and good! (Not when it comes to oils, though) :)

I gave a little sample of Francinsense to a singer-friend of mine who
detected hoarseness or tension in his voice. No doctor could tell him what
the problem was. His voice professor could hear the difference in the voice
though. My friend was worried he would strain his voice with this new
development and would potentially damage his vocal cords if he would not
know how to treat it. I told him to take Frankinsense (its all I had at the
time) under his tongue (1-3 drops), that it would taste VERY nasty, but
that it could solve the problem. I was suprized when he told me he took it,
that it was nasty, and that it actually helped! We found out, that he was
straining his voice due to stress and vocal cords tightening up, perhaps
also tension in his throat, neck even during his sleep. he told me he had
not slep to well in a long time and that he used to also take meds against
anxiety at one point in time. Taking a few drops of Frankinsense not only
helped him sleep and relax, but also get rid of the strain in his voice...
A different problem from yours, but I thought maybe there is something in
this amazing story for you too..

I have a friend with what appears to be a very very large full of fluid
access on his shoulder. I gave him some frankincense, melaluca, lavender
and Ongaurd. It helps stop pain but nothing else. I gave him a comb. Of
ills recommended for access that included clove but it hurts him too much.
Even with coconut oil added. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
