[Everything doTERRA] Re: doTERRA Sourcing and Butterfly Express

I had an interaction with this same woman, when I posted a comment on her blog on her website explaining that some of her information was incomplete. She refused to post my comment and wrote me an email saying she had enough pro-doTERRA comments on her blog (it appears she now only posts anti-doTERRA comments). We had an email interchange which proved that her only goal is to harass doTERRA as much as possible. I believe it's because her own oils can't hold a candle to the quality doTERRA has, and she feels she has to discredit them. IMO, she's more than a little nuts (a highly technical medical term). I think the best thing we can do is ignore her. If nobody bites at her "bait," maybe se'll just go away.

I was sent an email today that go me going about essential oils (i'll attach at the bottom)  Instead of writing my knee jerk response... I asked her this: " I am curious what you know about where Butterfly Express sources and processes their oils.  If you could lead me in the right direction I would appreciate it."

So this was her response:

I found this FAQ on my friend's website that may answer some of your questions:

Did you know that there are at least two brands of essential oils that openly say that they source their oils from Butterfly Express? I am sure that more than that do, because Butterfly Express is the only essential oil company in this area that sells essential oils in bulk for repackaging. I have even considered making my own blends re-branding them myself.

I know that doTERRA buys oils from many different places - they buy oils that are EOBBD approved, the same as Butterfly. They then retest the oils in their own lab, as Butterfly has their oils retested, to verify potency. So do many other companies. doTERRA is just the only one who invented their own certification for it. The only company that I know of that even says where some of their oils come from is Young Living - because they manufacture many of their own essential oils themselves. doTERRA does not manufacture their own oils, neither do they say where they buy their oils except that they are sourced from the part of the world that the plants are natively grown (I was a doTERRA consultant for a while). For all we know, they may be sourcing some of their oils from Butterfly Express, who already did the source work of traveling, locating, and importing the oils, because Butterfly is a local company and they often act as a middleman, selling their oils in bulk to other essential oil companies for repackaging - who knows? I am not saying that they do for sure, but wouldn't that be interesting?

I would love to be more clear with others about our distinction from such other companies that claim they are JUST as good and cost less because they don't have all the "foo foo" from a MLM style business.  Any thoughts and information you can share would be appreciated.

Her original email is in bold below: (I wrote a response that I decided shouldn't be sent out because I don't need to attract more controversy into my life by sending it out there...)

Are you tired of being told that the only way to get Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils is to buy them from an MLM company? Well, that is just not (completely) true. The funny business is this - that phrase (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) is the registered trademark of a particular essential oil company. So, no, you can't get Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils anywhere else, because if anyone else uses that wording in their marketing, trouble is sure to follow.  It just never sat right with me that there could only be just one true oil, especially in this great land of multiple choices where capitalism runs amok! (they don't all manufacture their own oils; they have to source it from somewhere - so doesn't it make sense that other companies could possibly get a hold of and sell the same great oils if they just looked for those sources?) So after a little looking into things, I have found that there are a few different places to get pure therapeutic grade oils  (just don't add certified to that and we'll be ok!) and there are some that are just as good of quality without the hefty price tag (no downline/upline, overhead on international sales offices, consultant bonuses, or national convention expenses built into the price, just a modest retail markup so that they can earn a simple living!) - not to take away from the great quality of the oils that these companies sell - if you are fine with spending a lot more to support the structure of the company and its perks, that is great! I personally have and use oils from many different companies, including Young Living, and doTERRA and they are all wonderful and I have gotten excellent results from ALL of the oils that I use. In fact, I just saved the life of an ailing chicken with a respiratory infection this week (and all of the chicken forums I read on the topic said that a respiratory infection like the one my little chickie had was certain death) by using a combination of oils, all from different brands, but my key issue here is good quality AND affordability, not brand.

So, if you have been wanting to learn more about how to use essential oils but you don't want to listen to an hour long sales pitch/testimonial without any real specifics, and then get pulled into a consultant role with a monthly auto-ship, then this is the class for you! I will be teaching a FREE class next Wednesday, October 3rd, on how to use essential oils and make them work for you at an AFFORDABLE price.  Details are in the attached flyer - hope to see you there!
