Know this sounds way out but try several drops of Digestzen rubbed around his belly button just before going to sleep. If there is a possibility that it might be sinus related this may help.

I have a dear friend who wakes up every am w/a headache & has it all day long--in his 50s & started this a few years ago. Drs have checked him out & found nothing noteworthy.
