Hi Healthimom,
I had someone asked me to give suggestions to a girl, age 14 diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes last May and I copied and pasted here below my reply to the request, with the exception of the name which I changed it to Jane. Perhaps you may be able to glean something from it. Here it is:
“I took time to reply because I have to give it a careful thought. Considering Jane’s age, I want to start very slowly with her and be careful not to add more responsibility on her at this point. But I’m hopeful for her because she’s still on the honeymoon phase and her family and friends are very supportive. She is the key for as long as she accepts her part, the chance of recovery is good. May God bring this hope to fruition. Here are my suggestions:
Since her pancreas is still making a tiny bit of insulin, Jane will benefit from a regular exercise program like walking with mom. Exercise enhances the ability of the body to use what little insulin is secreted.
Our pancreas has a key role in digestion. It makes alkaline juice to neutralize the acid in the stomach. A sick pancreas may not able to do this properly anymore. doTERRA CPTG Lemon essential oil has alkalizing benefits. A drop in the drinking water gives her energy and lifts her mood. I suppose Jane is drinking alkaline water already? If not, mom and dad may like to invest in a good alkalizing machine for the entire family, not a doTERRA solution, though. Eat whole, unprocessed foods like nuts, fruits, vegetables because they are the most alkaline and they place the least amount of strain on the digestive organs, and they contain the most minerals/vitamins.
The pancreas also makes enzymes to breakdown protein into amino acid; starch into sugar and fats into fatty acids and glycerin. To make up for what is missing, raw foods (enzymes are lost from cooking) would be great in her diet, along with supplementation. doTERRA has an enzyme product called Terrazyme, taken 30 minutes before meals.
Jane may also be encouraged to chew her food thoroughly to activate saliva secretion for digestion.
I’ve found these links which may interest them:
http://www.alkaline-alkaline.com/ph_food_chart.html. Alkaline food chart
http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/southbeachdiet/a/beanslegumes.htm. Resistant starch good for diabetics.
http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/products/p/shiratakinoodle.htm. Shirataki noodles low glycemic.
I think Jane will also benefit from a pro-biotic supplement in order to balance her intestinal tract with beneficial microflora. When friendly bacteria are present in the intestines they prevent the colonization of pathogenic microorganisms. PB Assist+ is highly recommended.
For the emotional issue, I suggest diffusing Frankincense essential oil in her bedroom at night. Lotus diffuser from doTERRA atomizes the oils into minute particles and active oxygen ions which make it easily absorbed by the human body. The diffuser can be moved from room to room for the entire family, too. The Frankincense can also be rubbed in the bottom of the feet during the day, if diffusing is not convenient.
There are essential oils that support pancreas healing (fennel, cypress), oils that support the functions of the thyroid(myrrh, lemongrass, geranium) and adrenals( basil, rosemary, clove) but I would like her to use the 5 above items for two months or so before we will proceed to suggest a support capsule (Zendocrine complex) for her cleansing/filtering organs like the liver, kidneys, lungs, skin and colon. After this, we will proceed to support the pancreas and thyroid.
Encourage Jane to stay on her medications, regularly monitor her sugar and assure her of our support through prayers. She must be encouraged to pursue any activity of interest. Perhaps voice lessons or dance lessons, writing skills, etc. Life must go on!!!
Have a nice day!
Nannette”
I don’t know if Type 1 is reversible. Perhaps yes if the timing of help is right. I would suggest at least the lemon oil, Terrazyme, PB Assist+ to your prospects . If they have no emotional issues to address, then take out the Frankincense and Diffuser. Jane had been crying a lot because she had to deny herself of so many foods she used to eat.
Hope this helps.
Nannette

Subject: [Everything doTERRA] Type I Diabetes
I know two young people -- one 9 years of age, and the other 15 -- who have just been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
Is this disease reversible at all?
If anyone has any suggestions that would help a person dealing with this disease, please let me know. Thank you.
