My lotus works great! I have never cleaned it (hate to admit). The
ONLY time it didn't mist was when it was filled above the line. It was
barley filled above the line too, so I always make sure it is a little
under or right at the line. If your is acting up that much I would
return it and consider it a faulty diffuser. You will LOVE your lotus
when it works the way it should. GOOD LUCK!!!
