I thought that was the point of this, that it's a mutating strand, but EOs are effective against it, and a list of the most potentially effective ones. It could mutate again from the alteration of environment, but that doesn't mean (to me) that the EOs would cease to be effective.

I'm sorry about your friend's daughter. I'll keep her in my prayers. Did you give them the brochure about essential oils and supergerms? Perhaps they'll reconsider...though some people will never change their minds, and you can't help them. My own mother is one of those.
