Helichrysum will really do a great job in minimizing (or almost
eliminating) the scar. It really depends on a number of factors.
However, I would have a couple suggestion from our experiences:
* While changing the dressings, put the Lavender & Helichrysum on
FIRST before putting on any other dressings. The reason being is that
the ointments/dressings are most likely petroleum jelly based. If the
Essential oils are put on Second, then they are not as likely to
penetrate through the petroleum jelly, and will be not as effective.
Lavender first for soothing and antibiotics, and second Helichrysum
for scarring.
* And if she and her husband can convince her hospital nurses to do
the same (put on the EO's FIRST), then the scar tissue will never have
has a chance to develop.
To back up your friend and husband, have them take a few Lavender
studies to show how it is an antibiotic (since this is what the
petroleum based ointments are - topical antibiotics). Also I'm sure
in the Modern Essentials book are studies shown regarding Helichrysum
and scarring, and it's properties.
All the best,
