for 10 years and in a medical spa and full service spa the last 18
months. I have found that it works best if marketed as a separate
service for healing and relaxation. I emphasize that the treatment
will continue days after the treatment. I would offer it for the same
price as what an hour massage is offered at the establishment.
Balance and Lavender have oils that effect the emotions and have
properties that act the same on the body as endorphins that produce
feelings of well being and grounding, calming the stress (flight or
fight) response. And of course, Balance as Dr. Hill demonstrated,
helps the blood to separate, and function better allowing more
oxygenation of the entire body. Melaleuca and On Guard have oils
that stimulate the organelle of all cells to function a higher rate
thus enhancing the immune response. Deep Blue and Aroma Touch are
amazing on the muscles and fascia of the body. As these release, then
the nerves and blood vessels are able to function at a more efficient
rate and it gives a systemic feeling of well being and relaxation.
Wild Orange is a sedative on the nervous system while Peppermint is a
stimulate. Thus when applied together they create a "jolt" to the
autonomic nervous system. It is similar to what happens with hot and
cold hydrotherapy or sweet and sour. It helps "reset" the autonomic
system to functions at a heighten rate. I would imagine that the
reason for the thumb walk is it releases the deep fascia along the
spine. The tight fascia along the spine can compress the spine and
compromise nerve innervation. I don't know why when applying those
oils and not on all oils. That would be a Dr. Hill question.
I had one stressed client who said receiving a ATT was more effective
for her than a half day of spa treatment in Maui. She called three
days later and said she was still relaxed and her digestive upsets due
to anxiety had settle down.
Hope this helps
