Re: [Everything doTERRA] Crohn's Disease, Young man suffering, HELP.....

This is from a friend whose husband is a Crohns sufferer.  Whenever something is posted here that has to do w/Crohns, I forward it to her.  :  (I will say that even though this is about diet, this is a family that does use doTERRA :0) )

I would suggest he try the Dr. Wahl's diet.  My husband was on it for about 2 months & while he was on it he did much better.  We had to stop the diet because it cost more than I had in my food budget.  There is a 4-wk meal plan that you can get on line for this diet.  The recipes are good & found them very filling.  At first I didn't think Brian would be able to do it because there is a lot of Kale in the diet.  I would steam the kale, then put it in his smoothies.  Everyone is different.  His sister had her first bowel resection when she was only sixteen and suffered for years.  (She had a pic line & feeding tube for over a year w/home nursing care)  She is now 45, has tried the diet & is in remission.  I plan to get him back on the diet when I have time to plan, to keep the cost down.

Also, my husband's surgeon has always done everything possible to avoid surgery. When he has been obstructed they would immediately put in NG and feeding tubes.  The idea was always to give him ten days on this before doing surgery.   This young man may have to have a feeding tube & home nursing care for a while.

Also, my friend is happy to talk to the mother of this young man, if she'd like.

It is possible to eliminate all wheat and also one step further, though more radical, all grains, though I'm not sure that is necessary.  I have done a lot with almond flour.  And if not totally grain free, then there is a good wheat free all purpose flour mix.  Search for Erika's best.  Uses rice flour (sweet, white, and brown) and Xanthum gum.  And if you're wondering about stuff like pizza, I have made cauliflower pizza crust, my wife's favorite, almond flour, Erika's flour, and my favorite, Quinoa pizza crust.  But I digress as this forum is on EOs.

I agree with Pat's diet recommendation except go further - not gluten-free, rather eliminate all grains not just wheat. Investigate the Wheat a Belly way of eating at www.wheatbellyblog.com. The books were written by a cardiologist in Wisconsin.
