I was trying to see where our Crohn's sufferer was at this point, Do you realize I could have tipped him over the edge with what I recommended, tell him grain free and it might be too much. 
Even with what I suggested it would be hard unless he were already doing most of it. It's all a process. Sometimes we are just not strong enough to do it all, even with our knowledge. I know a young man with severe ulcer colitis and still drinks Mountain Dew whenever he can. My Dad was dying of lung cancer (smoked since he was 12), and he would almost crawl out the back door to have a smoke.

Even though this forum was started with essential oils as its anchor, there are so many natural things out there that are good for us. We never discount herbs and/or anything from the earth. I have a recipe for black salve that I have seen draw out poisons, it was most impressive. And of course diet is the key to good health, always has been and always will be.

Because all grains, even wheat, spike your blood glucose levels. This means that many of the gluten substitutes (barley, rice, corn, spelt...) will cause your blood glucose to spike. As an FYI, almond flour, flax-seed meal/four, these are not grains.

I agree with John that this is a forum about essential oils, but our diet also plays a huge role in our health so it's good to bring some of these things into the discussion as "partners" with essential oils.

I agree with Pat's diet recommendation except go further - not gluten-free, rather eliminate all grains not just wheat. Investigate the Wheat a Belly way of eating at www.wheatbellyblog.com. The books were written by a cardiologist in Wisconsin.
