I've hesitated to add this, but feel like I should, so please forgive me if I'm violating some of the rules here. You might also try a new doctor. I had a dry cough like this for years, doctor passed if off because he never heard anything in the lungs, they sounded clear. I finally got a new doctor and a pulmonologist who diagnosed me with cough manifested asthma and bronchiestasis. Some asthma doesn't present with wheezing (with is the norm) but by a dry cough. Might want to ask your doctor to check this out.
