Tami,
3 years ago my husband deeply sliced his thumb, including a bit of nerve. I treated him at home for the first four days. I applied helichrysum very close around the wound, I put a drop of myrrh on the bandage before directly applying it to his thumb, and then I applied Deep Blue at the base of the thumb, since that took away the pain better than anything.
After 4 days, I freaked out! I didn't know what I was doing, it looked worse, and my husband had 2 weeks of health insurance left... so I kicked him off to the urgent care. I found out that the doctor was rather impressed with how well it was healing, that it looked older than 4 days. All they did was clean the wound (I hadn't bothered with some dried blood around it) and put a new bandage on. After my husband got home, he pretty much begged me to re-bandage his hand, the nurse's job fell terrible! :)
So we stuck with our routine and put a little more faith in the essential oils after that. It must have healed well enough, my husband sometimes forgets which thumb it was! :D
Blessings,
Leah

Yesterday My 15 year old son cut a small portion of his finger off with a table saw. Luckily it didn't take the entire finger but just the top edge with no bone involvement.
We did take him to the ER to make sure he was ok and they could only wash and bandage it.
I've been using oils for a few years now but have never used them for something as serious as this.
I've heard lavender is great for this but want to know if there is a particular regimen or other oils to promote healing.
Do I use them neat on such an open wound or dilute.
I also need something for pain. He's pretty sore and doesn't want to use Vicodin.
Thanks in advance for help!
Tami
