I have interstitial Cystitus. I could not find any information on the site for this specific condition, only for bladder support. My doterra rep mentioned putting a few drops of frankincense on an organic tmpon and leaving it overnight. Also, to rub lavender over the bladder area. I am a little nervous about the frankincense idea as that oil is so strong. I would like more information on it. Also, how many drops? How many nights is recommended or would this need to be done indefinitely? Any other suggestions?

I do not have any pain but have frequency and urgency spasms with some pressure. It is technically called Detrusser over activity of the bladder and is usually treated with an anticholinergic medicine….basically a smooth muscle relaxer to stop contractions.

If the oils do not work, below are some of the options offered from the medical world.

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) What it does is bulk up the tissue in the bladder to stop the spasms. They insert lanicane in the bladder to numb it and then drain the bladder. After that they go in with a scope and do the botox injections on the back of the bladder wall.

Next option is InterStim Therapy which basically re-routes the signals that the bladder sends the brain. It is a surgical procedure similar to putting in a pace maker for someone's heart, except for the bladder instead.

IC can be irritated by food. I also have ulcers in my bladder because of being too acidic. Reducing inflammation helps IC patients.

Stress greatly increases the spasms…hahaha in a perfect world!

The diet for IC is quite interesting. Basically no tomato or citrus products to include many other things like no caffeine etc.

I am not sure if IC is related to the nerves, but hopefully with the information I have given, I get some answers from someone more knowledgeable or from someone who has actually had some results. No meds or diet changes have helped at all with my condition. Desperate for help. Do not want to do options offered by the medical world if at all possible. Thanks,  Kelly
