I made some recently for a friend who loved to use Vick's, and she thought it was great!

Base Ingredients:
(I use this base for lots of things....)
2 Tablespoons Virgin Coconut Oil (solid state kind sold at grocery stores).
2 teaspoons Olive Oil (or liquid-state carrier oil of your choice. I like Sunflower Oil, too.)
Notes: Virgin Coconut Oil is not quite soft enough to be convenient at room temperature, so that why I mix in some Olive oil. It makes a nice creamy texture, easy to dip into with my fingers. Add more Olive Oil to make it softer, less to make it hard. Keep in mind this will start to go to liquid form at 74 degrees, but I live in Seattle so that's not a huge risk most of the year. Adding beeswax will help raise the melting point, but that's a whole other ball of wax (so to speak. Ha!)
Directions
1.Melt Coconut oil. I avoid micowaving directly.
I heat a cup of water in the microwave in a medium pyrex bowl. I put my Coconut oil in a small glass baby food jar and set it in the hot water. It melts in a few minutes.
(I'm pretty sure I learned that on this forum a couple of years ago.)
2. Add Olive Oil. Stir gently.
3. Add essentail oils. Stir gently.
10 drops Peppermint
10 drops Eucalyptus
(these two are comparable-but-better to the active ingredients in Vicks)
10 drops Rosemary -- I love Rosemary for chest congestion/persistent coughs and think this is an important addition. :)
OR
You could use 20-30 drops of the Breathe Blend. :)
4. Let cool. I will set it in the fridge for awhile if I'm in a hurry. I like to stir it a couple times while it's cooling, but that's not necessary.
ENJOY! :)

does anyone have a nice recipe similar in texture to the old fashioned vicsrub but a healthy alternative including our oils?
