For the newborn rash I highly recommend myrrh essential oil. I would use 3 drops for a tablespoon of carrier oil (which is the high end for infants) I did this with my newborn and I was amazed at how quickly (like within the day) it cleared up rashes or just random bumps or red marks, even scratches from their little fingernails. I used it every day and my little girl never even got any baby acne, which almost every baby seems to get for a short period of time. I was truly amazed!!! Myrrh is also so great for any kind of dry, chapped skin. I use it a lot in the winter (diluted in a natural lotion) and its way better than any lotion you can buy from the store.
For a diaper cream, I use some fractionated coconut oil in a 2 oz. spray bottle with 4 drops of lavender and 3 drops of roman chamomile, so its almost identical to the first oil I mentioned. You can use as little as 2 drops of each in 2 oz. of carrier oil, or you can up it if the rash or redness seems a little more stubborn. I have had great success with this "baby bottom" spray and its all I use now. I've never had to use anything more on my 4 mo. old.
I'm not really sure about the "gunky eyes". My daughter had that too and the only thing I would do was rub some of the diluted myrrh around her eyes (carefully of course). Sometimes it would seem to be gone, and then come back, so I'm wondering if it has to do with what I eat, or just something internally.
This is just a side note, but I have to mention it because of how helpful its been to us. I've given all three of my kids (when they were infants) a probiotic called "Tummy Tuneup" made by a company called Beeyoutiful (you can find them at beeyoutiful.com) and it is the one other thing that I highly recommend to every Mom I know. It is great for colic, digestive issues, constipation, and just for strengthening their little immune systems by building up the good bacteria in their system. My first had terrible colic (I didn't know it at the time) and we just decided to try it (since I knew it was safe for children) and within 10 minutes my crying baby quieted down and was happy again. It was a miracle to us! After trying everything I knew to do and nothing working and him crying all the time, I could hardly believe how well and how fast it worked. He was also really sensitive to certain things I ate and would have digestive issues and the tummy tuneup helped him every time!!! And always quickly too.
With my second the difference wasn't quite so pronounced, but I think his digestive system had a better start because of everything I did while I was pregnant with him.
Now, with my third I've found that she's hardly had trouble with the food I eat, she's happy all the time and it helps her to have more regular poopy diapers too.
I hope that helps. Oh, and I don't have any affiliation with Beeyoutiful, I just love their products and how they've helped my family!!! :-)
I have great confidence the doTerra's essential oils and their safety for using on both Mom and baby. I've used them for a couple years now and I used them my entire pregnancy, delivery, up until now. I have experienced only good things with them and I can't count the many ways they've helped me and my family get well and stay well!
And congratulations to you on your sweet baby! Children surely are a gift from God!!!
