i understand your frustation. i have not been able to eat right due to the economy. i am slowly gaining weight even though it feels like i am starving myself. i have cut out most of the sugar and most of the carbs, i only eat white meat and fish. anyone know what i am doing wrong?

Why is it so easy to eat junk but is so exhausting to eat healthy? I had an evaluation done a few weeks back and it showed that I am in yeast overload. That is why I haven't felt well since the birth of my last son, almost four. It is also the culprit for the weight I haven't been able to loose dispite my efforts of exercise and eating right.
The yeast is an easier fix, but the sugar? Everything we are exposed to has sugar! I recently found out that iodized salt even has a trace of sugar even though not listed on the label. I am tired and exhausted, and financially drained trying to feel better. Maybe because I am sick today, it is more overwhelming.
Any imput greatly appreciated!
Thoughts and Prayers,
Lori

There is a book called 'fit for life.' even he you cant keep up with it all, the food combinations might really help.

Just make a decision that you will try to be conscious of what you eat and you can't possibly get rid of it all but if you start evaluating how you feel after you eat something or how much of it you eat and write it down. I love glazed doughnuts but you know what? After I eat them, for some reason, I get heartburn. Not all, just certain one's. I guess it's in the ingredients in each place that makes them. I actually write down somethnig like felt queezy, felt stuffed, too filling, could have eaten half and been satisfied. Keep a small 50 cent notebook in your purse. I still eat a glazed doughnut on occasion, just not the ones that affect me or I only eat half a bagel or very little pineapple.
> Just like if you don't exercise a lot or daily but can walk 1-2 a week, it may not make a BIG difference but-- "Baby Steps" get us up and going eventually, right? You will be fine. Go at your pace even if you don't keep track everyday, "Baby Steps". I hope this helps, I'm 52 and have 4 grown boys and grandkids and still learning from all the young moms here!

For lunch my sandwich is NO bread, 2-3 slices of turkey luncheon meat from the deli

i agree with everything you are saying...i was watching the doctors today and they had on there a women who was pregnant and has a 2 year old and got the flu and died from getting ammonia. its scary how easy you can get worse from something so simple....but yet they can't make a choice to just do the test and help families out

With the swine flu outbreak you would think teachers would see a child that is sick. I picked my 6 year old daughter up Friday. She was falling asleep in the car. thats unusuall for her. I took her to the doctors, she tested positive for the flu. Here's the funny thing I asked the doctor if it was the swine flu, she said I couldn't really tell you. I asked why? She said medicad doesn't cover the testing if you want to spend $350.00 on the test we will send it off to find out.My question is how does everyone who has the swine flu know thats what it is, did they spend the money to find out no matter what insurance they are on?

Wdid your doctor tell you to do for her then? We also have medicaid until Nov. 1st which is when my daughter loses it. My daughter has been sick for almost 2 weeks now. But she will start to feel better one day and then feel worse the next morning.

I was told that the regular seasonal flu isn't prevalent yet. Therefore, if you have the flu it is the swine flu....just my "two cents".

Thanks god .. In my country if they suspected the flu.. The test is free:)
But there should be signs, like coughing constantly with chest pain. Sneezing a lot. High fever that doesn't go down even with Tylinole (paracetamol).
Her muscles would be weak, and her movement is not balanced. It may cause stomach irritating as well. That's what our doc told us.
I hope that its just a normal flu..
Give her honey with lemonade it will help.
Best wishes :o)

I had the swine flu & so did my daughter, who lives & goes to college in another city, & my insurance covered both tests... Swabs in the mouth? we were so sick for about 3 weeks ... In bed ... Not moving ...
Hope your daughter feels better. This flu sucks. I got my babies the shot and vac (in the nose) so they didn't get it. feel better soon.

what should happen to this mother

This seems to be the question of the hour...When I first read this story, I was outraged and I felt sick to my stomach for those poor little boys. Let's face it the mother made a fatal mistake/decision whatever you want to call it, but to go to prison for the rest of her life...I just don't know if that is the answer. The reason for my indecisiveness is this; #1 little boy loses his sibling, #2 little boy is scarred for life #3 little boy loses his mother to prison for his entire life. Where is the justice in that for the little boy? I am not saying that the mother should walk away scott free, but I think that there should be a lot more thought put into this. Also I don't think that anybody could ever punish this woman more than she is being punished now and will continue to be for the rest of her life. I just don't know what to think about this. I do pray for the famly, mostly for the little boy that is probably so scared and confused right now. My God it just brakes my heart thinking of this whole ordeal.

Our holidays are always hectic due to 5 kids. So I have found that if I do my baking at night when kids are asleep and then freeze it till later it makes my days go by so much easier than trying to do it when they are awake
Stress would not be so hard to take if it were chocolate covered.

just take it one day at a time ! But really, I would go through everything, make a list, check your calendar twice and go from there with the things you need to get done by what date. My husbands familly is not much on getting together for anything like my family did.
So the only main thing I have to do now, is make sure the kids have enough for christmas, and I get my car up to par for the 4 hr trip to Nashville for them to visit some friends of mine for them to have a good time. Drop them off, and go back and pick them up for their 3 day weekend for Thanksgiving. diane

My DH cooks
I clean. I drink the wine , only time of year! (so I can stay sane) We have lots of his family over.
We are bad about last minute shopping (but I did get a part time job at Kohls, should be great for the gift buying discounts)
Christmas cards only go out to last year friends and family and any new people I meet along the way.
So if someone forgets me last year they have been removed from the card list.
House clean up huge this time of year, I remove everything from every room and start fresh in each room. This way the thrift stores get my old stuff and those that shop there get some good gifts.

One of our *tricks* has always been to wrap and tag gifts as soon as they
come home. That way it doesn't pile up on us.
I also like to do bulk cooking beginning in the last part of Nov. That way
when we get in from a long day of shopping etc, all we have to do is throw
something in the oven/microwave and dinners ready.

What is your favorite tip for staying organized during the holidays?
It can get really hectic trying to plan around Halloween and all the parties
that go with it, planning for family get-togethers for Thanksgiving and
end-of-year holidays, plus keeping all of the "regular" stuff on-track. Work
still has to be done, and there's school, homework, and... ack!!

I love the book fair at my son's school. The books are flat and easy to ship - all of our family is back east.
I shop all year long - just gotta remember where I hid them! Wink wink
I try and do at least one special holiday event like a play or something - last year, twenty of us had fun at a Christmas tea party locally.
Over scheduling is the hardest challenge so I try and figure out what's up with major stuff like our church advent wreath party, etc. I add it to the calendar early so there are no conflicts, I hope.

My favorite spice topping is soy sauce. Sometimes I add some chili powder, a few of curry powder, or only fried onion and garlic.
