[Everything doTERRA] Re: preferred customer questions

There is a $10.00 Membership Fee required to be a Preferred Customer (PC).

A PC will receive a membership ID, which they may use when accessing any doTERRA website (yours or the Corporate site), to make a puchase, which they may do at a 17% savings off Retail Pricing.

A PC may have an Autoship Order, and will receive Autoship Rewards Points so long as their AS order is at least 50 PV (50 Points Personal Volume - generally speaking, it's dollar-for-dollar in most cases)

A PC's AS order may be for ANY amount (for example, let's say he or she ONLY uses Lemon, and goes through a bottle of Lemon per month.  There could be an AS order for Lemon ONLY - no points would accrue, since the amount is less than 50PV, but at least the person wouldn't LOSE whatever points may have already accrued, in the event that life changes require a reduced order volume for a period of time. (Same is true for IPCs, but remember, for IPCs, AS orders under 100PV impact whether or not one gets paid, and since there are about 6 ways to get paid with doTERRA, it's important to keep that in mind.)

A PC *may* at any time, convert a PC account to an IPC account by calling doTERRA Corporate.

Here's the way I explain it, in a nutshell:

You can purchase these items off my shelf and pay full retail plus shipping.  Or you can spend ten dollars and save 17% off retail.  Or you can purchase a wholesale membership for $50.00 and save 25% off retail, AND have a completely optional opportunity to receive an income, whether or not you wish to actually build a business!

Next, I ask a question:  Is the opportunity to own your own business important to you?

*IF* a customer indicates that YES, owning a business IS intriguing, then I give the various options for how one can do that in the most efficient manner.. My recommendations: Invest in the Premium Wellness Kit, commit to 150PV AS, and find 3 people who will do the same, and teach them to find 3, and so forth... USE ME to support YOU... ...Set up follow-up appointment to go over business matters, once his/her order has arrived.  Yes, 100PV AS is minimum required to get paid, but at 150PV, you just need to find 3 doing likewise, and you're at the 600PV for $50 bonus.... pull out Commission page, show & tell...

But generally speaking, folks heading towards the PC option would have said NO to the above question, so...

If the customer says no, I then (BRIEFLY) explain how some folks in my organization are receiving an income simply because they are supporting the health of their own family... Generally speaking, I use the example of my own mother, who is in her 60's and recently retired with only a VERY meager retirement to speak of + her Social Security check.  She opened a wholesale account because she wanted to save the most money (especially important in this economy).  She did NOT want to build a doTERRA business, and told me so VERY emphatically at the time.  I had no problem with that at all.  Meanwhile, I noticed that she set up an Autoship order because she saw the value in receiving points toward free products (again - frugal thinking pays off...).  So, because she was doing something to enhance her own health that just happened to fill a requirement in *MY* business structure, I began to build my business under her.  As it turned out, one of the people that was enrolled under my mom has gone GANGBUSTERS in her business, and so - since April - mom has been earning a monthly check that more than covers the amount she has been spending on her products (in other words, mom's oils are paid for - PLUS SOME).

Next, I explain that - as a Preferred Customer, such a scenario is impossible.  There is NO WAY to earn an income as a PC.

Basically, our wholesale membership accounts are just like a Sam's or Costco account.  You pay a fee - you get to purchase at wholesale.  Exept with Costco and Sam's, they don't EVER pay you... NEVER!!!

I make the point that my interests lies in helping them to find the best products at the best prices.  I have struggled for YEARS financially, and I do NOT like wasting money.  If a person thinks they're going to use more than a bottle or two of oil per month, it makes sound financial sense to open a wholesale account, so they don't spend more than they need to.

I follow that up with asking whether a $50.00 investment now, with the possibility a scenario such as described above sounded appealing.  Voila! New IPC!

CRITICALLY IMPORTANT NOTE!!!! BE SURE... That if the person TELLS YOU he/she doesn't want to run a business, you do 2 things: 1) DO NOT bug them about business matters! 2) When you enroll new folks & place them under that new IPC, you tell the new folks that their direct upline is NOT running a business, and therefore YOU will be the support person for them.  You MUST honor your word, and if you tell someone that you won't bug them about the business, DO NOT BUG THEM!

YES, this scenario DOES require more time/effort on your part.  The GOOD NEWS is that if you stay on top of what's happening in your organization, and build it wisely, you will have tremendous growth and success.  Meanwhile, those few who may be simply 'repeat customers' (like my mom, on AS but not actively building a business), fill a much-needed niche in your business and PERHAPS, once they see THEIR checks rolling in, they just MIGHT call you to say, "Hey, I'm just wondering how hard it is to earn more money... I like getting these weekly and monthly checks, and maybe I can help them to get bigger..."

I hope you find this helpful,

Monica

Ok, I have a question then Pat,
Since Alissa and I are sort of in the same question mode....that is the 10.00 fee correct? And they do get only 17% PV, is that correct? And they can access a website? Or not? I didn't think they could buy at whole sale. Wow, I need to go back and get this all straight again. Just when I thought I had it figured out...LOL! Thanks Pat for your help, and thanks Alisse for the great questions.

A PC is just that a "preferred customer" who buys at wholesale plus 10%. She
can get auto ship rewards as long as her auto ship stays at 50.00 or above.
She simply cannot act in a business capacity.

I have a friend wanting to be a preferred customer.  But she has some
questions i can't answer... Will she receive the auto ship rewards
like I do as a IPC? Will she get them at $50.00 or just $100.00?  And
last of all, does she have access to change her order form month to
month like I do?  any help would be great, I am just getting into this
signing other people up stuff    Thanks! alisse
