[Everything doTERRA] Oils to deter/repel cats?

I have two cats and I know I need to be very careful about oils around them.  I've noticed they avoid me when I put fresh oils on--they hate the smell.  I had noticed that in particular, they hated lemongrass.  I thought at first it might make a good deterrent, so I made a water spray bottle with the lemongrass and sprayed the oil on an office chair and a luggage set one of my cats kept clawing at.  It only worked for a short time and then he went back to his habits.

Recently (before I started oils, though), one of my two male cats (the same one who claws everything) has had a problem with peeing in things... a leather box of shoes at the front door, my plastic basket of papers for recycling, etc.  He treats them like his litter box, pees, and scratches.  Not sure if he's confused or marking territory, but it's really upsetting me and I don't want to get rid of him.  I wondered if I could "paint" on some certain oils on the rim of the boxes and baskets to deter him?

I thought I'd read somewhere that one of the oils repels cats, but now I can't find it.

There is also a neighborhood ferrel cat that likes to use my mulch outside as a litter box.  It's awful finding piles of poop when pulling weeds and sometimes it stinks so bad the second you walk out the front door.  I've struggled for years to find a natural cat repellent that won't harm my bushes and flowers.  Any suggestions??
