Wintergreen is primary used aromatically or topically, but it is gras and is cautioned to be used in only small amounts, whether topically or internally. There are some precautions that say that large of doses have shown to be harmful, even fatal. Just use smaller amounts, and break up the use, don't be using for weeks in a row or more... there will be no problem.
