Social security numbers aren't required for preferred members. I've enrolled them without.
You can apply for an EIN on www.irs.gov
Yes social security numbers are required any time a company issues an individual a check unless they have an EIN. Keep in mind if you have an EIN, the IRS is going to want to see an extra schedule on your tax return, like a schedule C.
