I am sorry that she said that to you. I find her remark to be off handed and either hearsay or misguided information. There is a lot of research being done on the benefits of essential oils - albeit, most of the research is not done in the United States (Pharmaceutical Companies have amazing lobbyists.)
I have a facebook fanpage in which I site peer-review research, medicinal journals, pubmed, sciencedirect, wiley online journal directory - to name a few. Please feel free to visit, download and print. Most of the articles you'll find are only the synopsis - that's because I can't afford to buy every one; however, I do have a few that are full reports.
