guess is that there is something going on in the environment that is
causing some problems. In the people I know only 2 have strong reactions
to some oils. Both we exposed to incredibly high levels of toxic black
mold and they are reactive to almost everything. One I have been working
with and is getting much better. It isn't uncommon for people with
really high levels of candida to not like the smell of oils. I wear oils
all the time and I've never had anyone have a reaction to them. (I do
carry an inhaler and breathe just in case). I don't know how many times
I've presented to groups of 30ish people and then went and interacted
with each and everyone of them and not had a reaction. I typically does
myself liberally with Terrashield and Balance before the event. Plus
wild orange and peppermint get inhaled. I go to a class that is packed
with over 30 people and we are seated very closely. Only one comment was
ever made, when I wore Past Tense the lady next to me liked it and asked
what I was wearing. I've even pulled oils out and used them in class.
That said, the oils dissapate very quickly, many don't even have a
lingering smell (whisper isn't one of those though). If it was me I
would simply put them on the bottom of my feet an hour before work and
if I needed Balance I'd just go into a bathroom stall and inhale
directly from the bottle. The next time I heard a comment, I'd just say,
I stopped wearing the oils to work a month ago, perhaps there is
something like mold or another issue causing the problem.
Does your employer have a policy manual, grievence process or union? I
would consider going directly to my supervisor and stating that you have
stopped wearing the oils to work for a month and are concerned that
comments are continuing to happen and you'd like them to consider
another source for the problem. Tell him/her that the continue
accusations are distressing and creating a hostile work environment. If
they continue, go to his/her supervisor. If things don't change
depending on your situation I'd look for another employment opportunity
or consult with legal council.
