When my children were growing up I could not give my son any of the antihistamines or other over the counter meds. Back then I didn't know I had a lot of choices but if the meds would shut down my other children, he would be through the roof. He was ADD before they tried to medicate every child that was exuberant. There were certain foods that would put him right to sleep.
So I will fall back on my standard reply, muscle test the child, if he can't cooperate then you can use a proxy and it will work.
