My philosophy is to "upgrade" whatever a person is doing now. For example: a person eating potato chips could switch to organic kale chips which is not exactly a health food but certainly many times better than carcinogenic potato chips or fries. Once they get used to that they can take the next step but to put a SAD eater on a super healthy diet is bound to fail quickly. Slower upgrades work much better in the long run.
I didn't think of honey but a raw honey face mask would likely help the boy too. If you can get one with propolis added it would be even better.
Yacon is great but a bit on the pricey side. You could also experiment with stevia. Some is downright horrid tasting but some is okay. The white stuff is obviously processed but still better than sugar or GMO corn syrup.

"xylitol"? How do you pronounce that? One of my semi-firm rules is if I can't pronounce it I shouldn't eat it. Xylitol is supposedly derived from natural stuff. Honey is not derived from anything. It is in the comb ready to eat as-is. It is just there.

Tom's or doTERRA OnGuard are two good options.
I did a tiny bit of research online and noticed there is something in
typical toothpastes that causes acne in some people.
